Jim Sampson CEO
Raised in a strong entrepreneurial family, Jim developed a fascination and love for aerospace at a young age. Jim performed his first solo flight at fourteen, and received his initial pilot’s rating at seventeen. Upon receiving his A&P Mechanic degree at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, he started Scion Aviation. It has become one of the leading R & D composite companies specializing in composites for the aerospace industry.
Betsy Sampson CFO
With a strong background in finance and job costing, Betsy began working at Scion Aviation in 2001 in the position of Controller, and became CFO and majority owner in 2005, making Scion Aviation one of the few woman-owned companies in the aerospace industry. Her responsibilities within the company include: financial management, marketing and advertising, job costing, as well as other aspects of corporate oversight.
Brooke Gunn Director of Sales
As Director of Sales since 2014, Brooke has been instrumental in bringing Scion Aviation's capabilities to the forefront of the aerospace industry. She is responsible for sales and marketing activities focusing on customer retention, managing relationships, and new client development. Her extensive network has allowed Scion to grow their client database and quote on projects small and large, both domestic and international. She regularly attends industry conventions, conferences and trade shows to introduce Scion to prospective customers.
Dave Coffman Shop Foreman
As QC and Shop Foreman with Scion Aviation, Dave manages the Quality Program and Production Management activities within the company. With over 10 years composite experience, Dave leads the team with Customer satisfaction as his highest priority. Most recently, Dave lead our team through the completion of our AS9100 certification.
Kathryn Ray Director of Program Management
Kathryn began her professional career in the space program as a Mechanical Engineer on the Space Shuttle Main Engine. Since then, she has worked as an engineer, managed projects, and improved processes on diverse programs in energy, aircraft, defense, health care, and high tech. Kathryn joined the Scion Aviation team in 2016 and enjoys the diversity of projects that come through the doors. Her experience in working within regulated environments and certification programs is invaluable to the work we do for our customers. Her background as an engineer and program manager allow her to bring a calm and practical voice to our projects while staying focused on schedule and quality.
